Paul Storr is a well known silversmith who worked in London during the late 1700s into the early 1800s. During this time period, the decorative and functional styles represented in silver were developing out of the simplified designs of the Early Georgian Period.
Paul Storr is highly acclaimed for the items he designed and made in the Regency Style. The Regency Style was popularized in the period during which Paul Storr worked and is characterized by rounder, full-formed items adorned with gadrooning and decorative motifs such as acanthus leaves, shell forms and braids.
Most of the items Paul Storr created were for people from important, wealthy families. Thus, the items are typically representative of the styles and tastes of the upper class in England during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Our Hester Bateman collection is especially worth noting along with English, Continental, American silver and of course, Georg Jensen. And please feel free to browse more Hartman Rare Art on Ebay.
