Bronze was one of the materials that Chinese artisans and craftspeople began experimenting with for ornamental purposes, as it had been used for centuries in the creation of practical and functional objects. Many of the early Chinese Bronze items that still exist today were practical objects that also may have served as beautiful decorative objects. To study Early Chinese Bronzes is to study the marriage of form and function throughout time.
